View Full Version : Alternate Money Formatting

I don't know if this has been suggested before, I couldn't find a thread regarding it.

As you know, monetary values in-game are displayed as normal integers.
e.g. 10 million in SACNR currency is shown as $10000000.

Throughout every client message in the game, this unformatted way is used. As many of you may know this becomes difficult to read and can take time when many place holders are present in the number. Therefore, I propose that numbers are formatted with grouped thousands, for example:

Hundred = 100 = $100
Thousand = 1000 = $1,000
Hundred Thousand = 100000 = $100,000
Million = 1000000 = $1,000,000
Ten Million = 10000000 = $10,000,000
Hundred Million = 100000000 = $100,000,000

This is a minor thing but it can save a lot of time and stop accidental commands being issued with incorrect values.

As noted by Potassium, different countries vary between using a period (.) and a comma (,) to separate groups of thousands. Adding a toggle in /settings, much like the imperial and metric toggle, would solve this.

Theres shitloads of includes for this at the sa-mp forums, so wouldnt see an issue there.
Slice made formatex(), and also made a format() specifier (%m) that does this already, ect:

format(string, 128, "%m", 10000);

Would print: "$10,000", so blacklite would basically just have to ctrl+r all "$%d" with "%m"

Would be good for people who are not very good with numbers. +1

has been suggested before
1million is = 1 with 6 zero´s = 1000000
aint that hard
for me thats the easier way to go, i dont see any problems with it, fine the way it is
also i havent seen any complains about " damn i transfered 10million instead of 1 "
or similar, changing this will actually really end up in a mess or people making typo´s like" deposit 1,000000
but they typed /deposit 1.000000

from me a -1 sry

yeah, It'd be better when you buy/sell a house it can get pretty annoying when you see someone is giving you money constantly but you can't difference wether it is 1m 10m or 100k. +1

If you could still write the way we do now, sure.

If not...

Some countries use periods (.) and some use commas (,) - for example in Australia, NZ, the UK and the USA we would write that as $1,000,000,000,000 not $1.000.000.000.000 like you said, which is why Blake suggested that there be an option for both.
